Harry’s and Meghan’s wedding: Italian bouquet and sugared almonds for the royal couple

May 21, 2018

A piece of Italy for the wedding of the year: Harry and Meghan have chosen an Italian bouquet and delicious sugared almonds from Sulmona to celebrate their union. Specifically, the sugared almonds for the beautiful young couple have been produced by the Italian brand Pelino, founded in 1783, which also manufactured the same sweets for Prince Charles and Lady Diana and William and Kate during both royal weddings.

The British Embassy contacted the Italian company asking the Italian team of master confectioners to realize something special for the event. Pelino created both the little bouquet and the sugared almonds. The bouquet showed three flowers, each of a different color – those of the English flag: blue, white and red. The names of the newlyweds were carefully handwritten, and the flowers placed in appropriate baskets delivered in the hands of the officials at the British Embassy in Italy.

But what about the precious sugared almonds? They were manufactured in seven different flavors, all rigorously prepared with the original Italian recipe dating back to 1400.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
