Verona hosts Vinitaly 2018, the world celebration of best wines

From April 15 to 18, the magnificent city of Verona will host the Vinitaly, the most important wine exihibition in the world and one of the most prominent fair in the country. The annual exposition is exclusively dedicated to wine experts and professionals.

What many don’t know about Vinitaly is that the event dates back over 50 years and right in the city of Verona, where the exhibition used to boost the traditional annual agricultural market. The event was created by Italian journalist Angelo Betti as a celebration of Italian wine industry and soon became a worldwide renowned exhibition and competition.

Over 50 years later, Vinitaly now boasts over 4000 exhibitors and around 14,500 wine varieties, with about 150,000 visitors flocking to Verona Trade Centre from every corner of the world, with the sole goal of participating in the array of workshops, tastings and seminars about wine culture.

The 2018 edition marks the 52nd anniversary of the event, and will feature an exhibition dedicated to international wine, the usual tastings and a selection of themed gourmet eateries. Special mention must be given to the so-called “citadels of gastronomy”, where visitors have the chance to sample pairings of regional wines and cuisine for a unique dining experience.
