Villa Balzana is close to Siena, but also to the beautiful cities of Florence and San Giminiano. The historic center of Siena has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and is one of Italy’s most visited cities, thanks to its museums, art, cuisine, medieval cityscape and the Palio.

Among the many sights that you will definitely have to consider, in this area, it’s worth mentioning the Duomo, a masterpiece of Italian Romanesque-Gothic architecture, the Siena Cathedral Pulpit, an octagonal 13th-century masterpiece sculpted by Nicola Pisano and featuring lion pedestals and bas-relief panels, Piazza del Campo, the shell-shaped town square unfurling before Palazzo Pubblico with its tall Torre del Mangia, and Palazzo Salimbeni, the original headquarters and remains in possession of Monte dei Paschi di Siena, one of the oldest banks in Europe.
