Villas in Catania
Founded in 729 BC, the beautiful Catania has a long history characterized by various dominations whose remains today enrich the artistic, architectural and cultural heritage. It is situated on the east coast of Sicily, at the foot of the Mount Etna and midway between Messina and Syracuse. The baroque old town center has been declared a UNESCO "World Heritage". Catania draws visitors from all over the world, who can stay with every comfort in the lovely villas proposed by WeVillas, especially for its unique attractions: in addition to its proximity to the highest active volcano in Europe, the city is crossed by a long underground river, the Amenano, clearly visible in Piazza del Duomo and in the basement of the local Ostello Agorà. Piazza del Duomo is the heart of the historic and artistic center of Catania, surrounded by the beautiful baroque buildings of the Town Hall and the Clerics that surround the famous obelisk with the elephant, a symbol of the city. A separate chapter deserves the imposing Cathedral of St. Agatha, the patron saint of the city, originally built in the eleventh century and rebuilt several times because of the damage caused by earthquakes and fires. Villa Bellini and Park Gioeni, from where you can enjoy the best view of Catania, and the quaint fishing village of San Giovanni Li Cuti are a must see, too. No less important than the Ursino Castle, which was founded by Frederick II of Swabia and today houses the Museo Civico, and the Greek-Roman Theatre from the first century AD, built entirely of marble and lava stone. WeVillas offers several proposals for luxury villas and apartments for rent in Catania, an ideal place for a holiday of culture and nature.
