Villa Ambra is a wonderful rental property located close to Argegno, on the western shore of Como Lake. The villa was built by a wealthy family of Milan in 1911, but both the house and the garden have been completely renovated in 2012, retaining all the traditional features and materials. Marble and terracotta floors, as well as the doors and decorations, are the original ones. Antique furniture, paintings and statues create a very exclusive atmosphere. Villa Ambra has six bedrooms and can accommodate up to 11 people. The villa develops on three floors: the ground floor is the living area with a large sitting room with fireplace, suitable to receive up to 15 guests, and a fully equipped kitchen; the first floor is the sleeping area, with the main bedrooms; an attic with a single bedroom completes the property. Around Villa Ambra is a garden of about 3,500 square meters with lawns, plants, flowers and trees, all kept in excellent condition. Be sure to take a dip in the saltwater pool and rinse off in the outdoor shower. Villa Ambra is located near the town of Argegno (280 meters above sea level), in a large sunny inlet on the western shore of Como Lake. A Roman origin pedestrian road leads from the property to the city and the lake, passing by the church of S. Sisinnio, over a distance of 800 meters, with a vertical drop of 80 meters. Argegno is at the foot of Valle d'Intelvi. The valley has been famous for centuries throughout Europe for the artisans working plaster and the realization of decorations and statues for churches and palaces. The road to Valle d'Intelvi, passing in front of Villa Ambra and leading to the Swiss border, was used as a passage from smugglers and people fled from Italy during the Second World War. Argegno has a pleasant climate, even in winter, since the mountains protect it from the cold north winds. During summer evenings, fresh winds from the valley make the temperature particularly pleasant. The town is situated at the center of the lake, where the shores are more distant from each other.
