Christmas Markets of Bolzano 2013: a party with a magical atmosphere
November 1, 2013The traditional Christmas Markets of Bolzano 2013 will take place from November 28 to January 6, in the historic center of the capital of South Tyrol. It is the twenty-third edition of an event that has drawn many visitors in Bolzano since 1991, all attracted by the magical Christmas atmosphere made of lights, sounds and scents of the place.
The central Piazza Walther, a crossroads of romantic arcades and medieval style buildings, is festively packed from the banquets of exhibitors, about eighty carefully selected, while Christmas carols accompany the pleasant walk of people between a stand and another. Meanwhile the tempting scent of spices, biscuits, mulled wine, apple strudel and decorated fir fills the air.
The opening of the Christmas Market of Bolzano 2013 is expected Thursday, November 28 at 5pm. The stands, already scrupulously set up, will be lit only by a candle, to prepare the evocative lighting of the big Christmas tree, along with the houses and lights hung around the square. Do not miss the festive taste of a typical dessert offered by one of the partners of the market, while the music envelops all participants.
For the entire duration of the markets, every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, Piazza Walther will host concerts from 2pm to 6pm, while the last Sunday you can appreciate the live nativity scene. The youngest visitors will enjoy the puppet theater, ponies for short walks in the historic center, the illuminated carousel and the little train that runs virtually the five original markets of South Tyrol. Among the scheduled events, there are also the Children's Christmas Market in Piazza della Mostra, the Solidarity Market Review and crafts in the streets of the historic center, the Enchanted Forest in Palais Campofranco.
