Porto Ercole is a village in the municipality of Monte Argentario, in the province of Grosseto. The history of Porto Ercole began in Etruscan times, but it's evident also in the Middle Ages. The historic core is enclosed within the walls; through a series of alleys rooms in the oldest part of the town, it's possible to reach the Church of St. Erasmus, which houses the tombs of the Spanish government. Worthy of note is the Giardino Corsini with its botanical rarities. The town is dominated by a mighty fortress, reached by a deviation from the panoramic road
